TOMATO RICE | RICE VARIETIES

Tomato Rice

This is a special , tasty rice cooked in traditional style with tomatoes and grinded masala. 

For this recipe you need

1 cup of basmati rice
4 -5 medium sized tomatoes
2 onions
2 green chillies
A sprig of curry leaves
1/2 tsp. of turmeric powder
1 tsp. of mustard and urad dal
Salt to taste

For grinding

1 tsp. of coriander seeds
1 tsp. of channa dal
1 tsp. of urad dal
3 red chillies
2 tbsp. of grated coconut

Heat oil in a pan, add all the ingredients and saute them till golden brown . Grind them and keep it aside.

Preparation

Cook the rice with little salt and allow it to cool.

Wash and chop the onions and tomatoes, split the green chillies lengthwise.

Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard and urad dal,when they stop spluttering add the curry leaves.

Add the chopped onions , saute till they turn translucent.

Add the green chillies, saute for a min.

Add the tomatoes , along with the turmeric powder and saute them until the tomatoes get cooked well.

Now add the rice with  grinded masala and salt .Mix them well

Special tomato rice is ready to serve.....


Serve it hot with Potato fry....
