Semiya/Vermicelli Upma - Quick & Easy Breakfast :-)

Semiya / Vermicelli Upma

This is my favorite breakfast dish as it is very easy and quick to prepare. 

I usually prepare semiya as we normally do, I want to change my normal style and here comes the recipe.




For this Recipe you need

1 cup of semiya
1 big sized Onion
1 big sized tomato
2 green chillies
½ tsp. of turmeric powder
2 nos. of Bay leaf
1 tsp. of Ghee
Oil as needed
Salt to taste

For Seasoning

1 tsp. of cumin seeds
1 tsp. of urad dhal
2 nos. of Bay leaf
A bunch of curry leaves.

Preparation

Roast the semiya gently with a tsp. of Ghee and keep it aside.

Heat oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds. When they stop spluttering add the urad dhal , curry leaves and bay leaf.

Add the green chillies and chopped onions sauté it for 2-3 mins.

Add the tomatoes, along with turmeric powder.

Add 1 cup of water and allow it to boil.

Now add the semiya and salt. Cover and cook in a low flame until the semiya is cooked well and the water gets completely evaporated.



Quick and tasty Semiya Upma is ready to serve...........




OPTIONAL: We can add vegetables like carrot, beans, potato and peas - to make a complete nutritional recipe for our kids
