Simple Sambar

Simple Tasty Sambar

I really love the event by Priti- "His Cooking"

U know who is my inspiration in cooking , its my dear HUBBY -  I admire and enjoy is cooking a lot.......
Thursday's and Friday's are weekends in Saudi.. So that's the time my daughter and myself start preparing the menu...
He is a chef in biryani and vatha Kuzhambu. He also prepares some easy and simple recipes like this sambar, vegetable stir fries, and so on..

Here comes the sambar from my Hubby's hands.

For this sambar you need

2 onions
2 green chillies
3 tomatoes
1/2 tsp. of turmeric powder
1 tsp. of chilli powder
Salt
Oil

For seasoning

1 tsp. of cumin seeds
1 tsp. of mustard and urad dhal
A sprig of curry leaves.

Preparation

Wash and chop the onions, green chillies and tomatoes.

Heat oil in a pan, add the seasoning ingredients.

Add the chopped the green chillies, saute for a min.

Add the chopped onions , saute till they turn translucent

Now add the chopped tomatoes along with the turmeric powder, chilli powder. Mix them well.

When they tomatoes are half cooked , add 1 1/2 cups of water along with salt and  allow it to boil. ( adjust the water according to your consistency).

Simple sambar is ready to serve...

Serve it hot with crispy  Dosa's/ Hot Idli's.
