MASALA VADAI - A popular South Indian Snack



Masala vadai - This is probably the most popular snack made in South Indian homes and one that is sold on every street corner shops. It is very simple to prepare and they taste delicious when eaten fresh as keeping them  for any length of time makes the outer shell of the vada go stale.

For this recipe you need

1 cup of chana dal
3 red chillies
2 medium sized onions, finely chopped
2 green chillies, finely chopped
Handful of fresh coriander leaves, finely choped
A pinch of asafoetida
Salt
Oil for frying



Preparation


Wash and Soak the chana dal in enough water for 2-3 hrs.

Drain and blend in the mixer to a coarse paste ,adding very little water.

Transfer the batter to a bowl, add the onions, coriander leaves, green chillies, asafoetida along with salt and mix well.

Heat oil in a pan, take small portion roll into a round ball ,and flatten it in your palm.

Drop the vada in the oil, and deep fry them until golden brown.

Crispy Masal vadai is ready to be served.................


Serve this delicious masal vadai as a teatime snack and enjoy :)
